Region for tourists

A precious jewel is the micro region of Spiš, as well as the fascinating nature of the Slovak Paradise (Slovenský raj), the Spiš Castle, which is the largest in Central Europe; the early gothic Holy Ghost Chapel with precious frescoes in Žehra; or the medieval Church seat of Spišská Kapitula; the wooden churches; the Morské oko ("Eye of the Sea") volcanic lake; the hand-made pottery production in Pozdišovce; the unique, regularly erupting geyser in Herľany; the canyon of the Zádielska Valley; or by the preserved floodplain forest habitat along the Latorica River. Since centuries, the Košice Region has been the place of production of one of the world's tastiest wines. The world-famous Tokay wine-producing region is home to the distinctive honey-colored wine.
