Trnava region is spread in the southwest part of the republic on the borders with:Austria, Czech Republic and Hungary. Cultural, economic and administrative centre of the Region is the old town Trnava. It is the first free royal town in the territory of Slovakia with the privileges granted in the year 1238.

The Area of Tourism


Rich resources of thermal and healing waters and developed spa tourism make it attractive. The biggest spa town in the Slovakia Piešťany is often searched for the treatment of rheumatic diseases. A small quiet natural therapeutical spa town Smrdáky lies in the Záhorie lowlands. The springs, have the highest hydrogen sulphide content in Europe. Skin diseases are treated here with the highest percentage of success.

  • Railway transport: The length of the railway line is 304.45 km. The main transport routes are Bratislava - Žilina and Trnava - Kúty.
  • Road transport: Motorway D1 and(D4); Speed roads R1 and R7
  • The Airport: Piešťany airport with one concrete take-off and the landing area, only 85 km from the international airport of Bratislava.
  • Power Engineering - The Region is an important source of energy owing Jaslovské Bohunice NPP and the waterworks Gabčíkovo. In the future the conversion to ecological renewable energy resources is planned.
